Steve Garone is a Principal Analyst at Hurwitz & Associates. Steve has an extensive career in distributed software and data center hardware that spans more than 30 years. He has worked in product marketing and management for a variety of companies including Hitachi, Sun Microsystems, Computer Associates, and Digital Equipment Corporation. In his most recent position at Hitachi, Steve helped develop the company’s cloud service provider partner program as well as its overall cloud strategy.
Steve began his career as an engineer, and over time has developed deep expertise in software development, deployment and management of enterprise and cloud software environments.
He has had critical roles in helping vendors determine customer requirements based on emerging trends in software, middleware, networks and systems. In addition, Steve spent six years at IDC as a Research Manager and Vice President focused on development and deployment environments and software infrastructure.
Steve cofounded two companies focused on the needs of IT decision makers including their need to make well-informed purchasing decisions. Steve holds an MBA from Babson College, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Materials Science from MIT, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from NYU Tandon School of Engineering (formerly the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn).
